Subscribe | UPI Odd Newsletter Subscribe FULLERTON, Calif., Nov. 1 (UPI) -- A scoreboard at California State University in Fullerton was damaged as a result of a pumpkin tossing accident, a Discovery Science Center official said. Center director of education Keith Brush said Saturday a group of college engineering students created a makeshift cannon to shoot pumpkins, but the cannon was so powerful it shot a pumpkin more than 120 yards into the Titan Stadium scoreboard. Advertisement "The scoreboard is fine... it works... it was a small hole," Brush told The Orange County (Calif.) Register. "Nobody seemed to be in a huge panic." The engineering students had planned on the pumpkin striking one of the two plywood targets set up nearly 50 yards away, Brush said. "They had no idea how far it was going to go,'' Brush said of the mishap. "You know, with engineering projects, they usually don't work out the first time." The Register said nearly 3,000 people attended the second-annual "Pumpkin Launch" held by the center Saturday.
