ORLANDO, Fla., Oct. 30 (UPI) -- Officials with Ripley's Believe it Or Not in Florida said museums in Los Angeles and San Francisco are candidates to host the world's largest rubber band ball.
Edward Meyer, vice president of exhibits and archives for Ripley's, said the nearly 10,000-pound rubber band ball, created by Joel Waul of Lauderhill, Fla., was taken Thursday to Orlando, Fla., to be be temporarily housed until a permanent home is chosen, the Miami Herald reported Friday.
Meyer said the size of the rubber band ball, which was named the world's largest by Guinness World Records in 2008, means it can only go to a museum where it can lowered through an open roof.
"We can't roll it through the door," he said.
He said Ripley's museums in Los Angeles and San Francisco are likely candidates because they are currently undergoing renovations.
