SUNDERLAND, England, Oct. 26 (UPI) -- A British woman dubbed the country's top Avon saleswoman said confidence was the key to going from unemployment to $408,000 a year.
Debbie Davis, 29, of Sunderland, England, said she started selling cosmetics for Avon to raise Christmas money after she was laid off from her job five years ago and during that time she has gone from collecting government benefits to driving a Mercedes and leading a sales team of 2,500 people, Sky News reported Monday.
Davis said confidence and "just being friendly" are the secrets to sales success, even during an economic recession.
"At first I was really shy so it was all about getting my confidence back -- my confidence just went after I was made unemployed," she said. "Now it's about friendliness, just being friendly and talking to people."
