LONDON, Oct. 19 (UPI) -- A high-end British retailer has become the first department store to stock edible garnishes made from real gold and silver.
Officials with Selfridges department stores said the line of edible metals, Food Bling, includes 23-carat gold and silver sprinkles and leaves that can be spread over food or floated in beverages to give a precious metal glow to nearly any dish, the Daily Mail reported Monday.
Canisters of gold or silver sprinkles retail for $24.61, while a $26.25 kit includes a smaller sprinkle shaker, two pieces of gold leaf and two pieces of silver leaf.
