TROWBRIDGE, England, Oct. 15 (UPI) -- A 2-year-old British girl was treated as a suspect by police after her neighbor accused her of vandalizing his car with a stick, documents revealed.
A Freedom of Information request for details of offenses in England's Wiltshire county committed by children under 10 resulted in the release of documents pertaining to the toddler, who was accused of criminal damage by a neighbor who said she deliberately hit his car with a tree branch, The Sun reported Thursday.
Investigators listed the girl as a suspect despite the fact she is too young to be charged or questioned by authorities.
A Wiltshire police official confirmed the incident.
"It is an astonishingly young age. The matter was resolved to the satisfaction of the people whose property was alleged to have been damaged," the official said. "It was a mountain out of a molehill."
