BOULDER, Colo., Oct. 13 (UPI) -- Police in Colorado said a suspect told them he stabbed a friend's roommate while acting out a scene from a movie, but witnesses disagreed with the account.
Investigators said Leo Beitz, 20, of Rolling Meadows, Ill., told them he accidentally stabbed University of Colorado student Parker Chase Rolles, 21, at the victim's Boulder apartment while acting out a scene from "Robin Hood: Men in Tights," the Boulder Daily Camera reported Tuesday.
However, two witnesses said Beitz grabbed a knife and stabbed Rolles without provocation Oct. 3. Rolles sustained injuries to the abdomen and groin.
John Schaefer, Rolles' roommate and a longtime friend of Beitz, told police Beitz had problems with his temper and was taking medication for depression and anxiety. Beitz, who allegedly tried to head butt an officer during his arrest, told police he had consumed two shots and 10 beers prior to the incident.
Beitz was arrested and charged with first-degree assault, obstruction and third-degree assault on a police officer.
