HOUSTON, Oct. 10 (UPI) -- A pit bull broke into a house in Houston and spent an hour getting friendly with the homeowner's dogs while destroying the furnishings.

Rosie Sanchez, alerted by a neighbor to the burglary in progress Wednesday, got home in time to see the culprit being led away by an animal-control officer, KHOU-TV, Houston, reported. She found rifled dog food, a puddle of urine underneath her dining room table and a stereo knocked over.

"It's just a mess," she said.

Her neighbors say the pit bull had been in the area for several days and they had been complaining about it, to no avail.

Sanchez owns a Chihuahua and a Yorkshire terrier. The pit bull was apparently eager to play, not fight.

The pit bull will be put up for adoption if its owner does not come forward.
