NEW YORK, Oct. 9 (UPI) -- A New York City Supreme Court spokeswoman said Google users who search for the court's Web page are instead directed to the text of a January lawsuit.
Court spokeswoman Kali Holloway said officials recently discovered Google searches for "SCROLL New York," the court's Web page for case searches, returns a false log-in page as the No. 1 result that leads visitors to a PDF file containing the text of a lawsuit against Google that led the search giant to reveal a blogger's real name, the New York Post reported Friday.
The January lawsuit, filed by model Liskula Cohen, demanded Google reveal the identity the person who disparaged Cohen on a blog called "Skanks in NYC." The outcome of the case forced Google to reveal the blogger's identity as fellow model Rosemary Port in August.
Holloway said the court's Web site was not compromised by the unknown hacker and the search function apparently was tampered with in retaliation for the outing of Port. She said SCROLL New York works properly when linked from any other search engine.
"We will be contacting Google to let them know about the issue and to ensure that our site users don't have any problems in the future," she said.
