CASSELTON, N.D., Oct. 8 (UPI) -- An unusually tall Newfoundland in Casselton, N.D., will be entered in Guinness World Records' tallest dog category, its owner said.

Boomer stands 36 inches tall at the shoulders, weighs 180 pounds and measures 7 feet from the tip of its nose to the end of its tail cartilage, the Grand Forks (N.D.) Herald reported Wednesday.

Caryn Weber said her dog is really tall for a Newfoundland, but Guinness doesn't keep records for individual dog breeds.

Weber said whenever Boomer enters the house his tail makes short work of anything it can reach.

Like other dogs of large breeds, Boomer is susceptible to hip dysplasia and heart defects and has a reduced life expectancy, the newspaper said.
