HOUSTON, Oct. 7 (UPI) -- Residents of a subdivision in suburban Houston are trying to rid the area of feral hogs that one resident said came into his yard as recently as Sunday.

Troy Bourgeois told KHOU-TV, Houston, hogs have been in his yard in the Waterbrook West subdivision in Fort Bend County six times this year.

"You get little ones and then you get large ones," he said. "They just kind of peel the sod up and they actually just kind of flip it over."

The hogs appear to be the responsibility of no government agency, so Waterbrook West residents are buying traps and hiring trappers in groups and individually.

Jay Jurica of Arcola Feed and Hardware said the best area residents can hope for is to get the number of hogs down.

"I don't think you can get rid of them. You can control them, but you're never going to get rid of them," he said. "They keep multiplying as fast as you can catch them."
