SAN CLEMENTE, Calif., Sept. 14 (UPI) -- Organizers of a rally against a ban on nudity at a traditionally clothing-optional California beach said more than 100 people disrobed for the protest.

Allen Baylis, the Huntington Beach, Calif., attorney who organized the Sunday protest, said participants shed their clothing at the San Onofre State Beach's Trail 6 and held up signs protesting the state Department of Parks and Recreation's ban on nudity at the location, the Orange County (Calif.) Register reported Monday.

"It shows the Parks Department that we're not willing to go away," Baylis said of the demonstration, which came nearly a week after the ban took effect on Labor Day.

The naturists said they are appealing the ban to the state Supreme Court.
