Subscribe | UPI Odd Newsletter Subscribe FALKENBERG, Sweden, Aug. 28 (UPI) -- One man was sentenced to prison and another received probation after one of them tried to sell stolen jewelry to its rightful owner, Swedish police said. A 46-year-old man was convicted of stealing the jewelry and was given a nine-month prison sentence. A 54-year-old man was given probation for trying to fence it, the Swedish News Agency TT reported Thursday. Advertisement When the fence brought the stolen goods to the jewelry shop of Carl-Fredrik Forsell in Falkenberg, Sweden, Forsell spotted it right away. It belonged to his wife and had been stolen the previous night. "I noticed immediately that it was my wife's jewelry. I actually shouted 'bingo!' when the man left," Forsell said. Forsell said he feigned nonchalance as the 54-year-old man tried to sell him the jewelry -- telling him he needed to appraise the items and asking him to come back the following day. When the man left the shop, Forsell called the police.
