Burglar decries office mess

PAARP, Sweden, Aug. 27 (UPI) -- Swedish police say an office burglar surfed pornographic Web sites on a company computer and left a note bemoaning the messy state of the office.

Police say the owner of a company in Paarp arrived at the office Monday and discovered the front door had been forced open at some point during the weekend, The Local reported.

The owner said a computer screen in the office was displaying several pornographic Web sites and a note chiding: "You need to clean up. Regards, Thief."

Police said they were searching for suspects in the break-in. They did not say what items, if any, were taken from the office.

Police: Man ate at store without paying

BISMARCK, N.D., Aug. 27 (UPI) -- Police in North Dakota say they arrested an intoxicated man spotted eating food in a grocery store without paying for it.

Bismarck Police Lt. Randy Ziegler said the 38-year-old man took cake, cookies, avocados, pistachios and plums off store shelves at Cashwise Foods in the early hours of Tuesday, went to a table in the deli section and started chowing down, The Bismarck Tribune reported.

Ziegler said police were called to the scene at 2:43 a.m. and the intoxicated man told them he had no money and did not know how he would pay for the items.

Police said the man was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor theft.

Pot-laced stamps gets woman jail time

ROANOKE, Va., Aug. 27 (UPI) -- Virginia prosecutors say they worked out a plea deal with a woman who sent letters to Roanoke jail inmates with marijuana hidden under the stamps.

Deputies at the jail intercepted the letters after noticing the stamps had strange lumps in them, The Roanoke (Va.) Times reported.

Ashley Dudley, 22, will spend 30 days in jail under the agreement to plead no-contest to two counts of attempting to deliver marijuana to a prisoner.

Deputies said they intercepted 11 letters addressed to three prisoners, but the amount of pot added up to a negligible amount.

Dudley was tracked down through fingerprints on the letters. The newspaper said she told arresting officers she knew she should have worn gloves.

Meteorite stolen from Connecticut store

MONTVILLE, Conn., Aug. 27 (UPI) -- Connecticut state police say someone stole a meteorite worth $2,200 from a gift shop at a nature activity center.

State police Sgt. Chris Johnson said the 30-pound meteorite comprised of nickel and iron disappeared from The Dinosaur Place, a retail store along Route 85 that has been victimized by shoplifting in the past, The Hartford (Conn.) Courant reported.

Roger Phillips, co-owner of The Dinosaur Place, said the theft last Friday or Saturday was unlike previous thefts.

"How many times do you have an object from outer space missing?" Phillips asked the Courant.

Phillips said there were no signs of a break-in, making him suspect the meteorite was taken by a customer during business hours.

The Courant said Phillips is still attempting to determine how someone actually stole the chunk of space rock, which was originally found in Argentina, without being seen.

"Something like this is unusual because of its weight," he said. "Of course, we wonder, 'how did they get it out of the store?'"
