Ben Smyth, 28, said his Lower East Side chapel, which opened July 12, offers wedding packages ranging from $100 to $500 for engaged couples who want the ceremony but don't want to spend big money, the New York Post reported Monday. Advertisement "I look at people who spend tens of thousands of dollars on their weddings, and it's just astonishing," Smyth said. He said his chapel offers electronic invitations, wedding programs, an ordained minister, a glittering disco ball for the first dance and upgradeable options for photos and even Internet streaming for those loved ones who can't fit in the chapel's 25 seats. "It's supposed to be an intimate event with family and friends," Smyth said.
