DELRAY BEACH, Fla., July 24 (UPI) -- Some parents in Delray Beach, Fla., have complained about a bronze sculpture of a nude family at a shopping plaza near an elementary school.

The sculpture by artist Itzik Asher, titled Journey to the New, depicts a somewhat abstracted father, mother, infant and older child representing the flight of Russian and Ethiopian Jews to Israel, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported Friday.

"It's a figurative piece, somewhat abstract," said Richard Caster, who owns Addison Plaza shopping center, which hosts the sculpture. "It's natural and beautiful."

However, some parents of students at the nearby Morikami Park Elementary School said they do not want their children exposed to the nudity depicted in the sculpture.

Jamie Garroway, president of the Morikami Park parent-teacher association, said he sent an e-mail to parents Wednesday morning urging them to file complaints with Caster and Palm Beach County Code Enforcement.

"Everybody has a different idea of what art is," Garroway said. "If this piece was at a museum, I would not have a problem with it."
