ST. PAUL, Minn., July 24 (UPI) -- Kevin Heinz and Jill Peterson of St. Paul, Minn., have become an Internet sensation for dancing down the aisle in a twist on the solemn wedding procession.
After the video Heinz posted on YouTube attracted some 700,000 viewers, the couple appeared on the "Today Show" Friday.
"If you can have that much fun at the wedding, that much fun will carry over also into your marriage," host Matt Lauer told them. "What a great sign and what a great gift."
The 28-year-olds and their bridal party danced down the aisle during the June 20 ceremony -- Heinz entering with a somersault and Peterson shaking her hips and pumping her bouquet.
Once they reached the altar at Christ Lutheran Church in St. Paul, the bridesmaids did a hand-waving routine.
The wedding party rehearsed 90 minutes, Peterson said, but ad-libbed much of the dance down the aisle.
"A lot of that, people were sort of making up as they went," he said. "People just got really into it and went for it. We just gave them a general layout."
