DENVER, July 21 (UPI) -- A Denver police officer is charged with felony menacing and weapons charges for allegedly using his gun to try to speed up a McDonald's order.
The officer, Derrick Curtis Saunders, 29, allegedly became impatient and drew his gun at the Aurora, Colo., fast food restaurant while waiting for an order at the drive-through window in May, The Denver Post reported Tuesday.
The Aurora Police Department said Saunders is also facing charges of prohibited use of a weapon, reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct.
Sonny Jackson, a spokesman for Denver police, said Saunders was suspended with pay during the investigation but is due to be put on unpaid leave once a formal notification of the charges is sent to the department.
Jackson said the Denver Police Department has no comment on the case.
