Highway gets beer bath after crash

MADISON, Wis., July 18 (UPI) -- One of the people who helped clean up the crash site of a beer delivery truck in Madison, Wis., says beer from broken bottles coated Highway 151.

Tow team worker Sean Carnahan said after unsuccessfully attempting to right the semi-truck Friday amid the prevalent sight and smell of the alcoholic beverage, he had no urge to down a cold one anytime soon, the Wisconsin State Journal reported.

"Trust me, after smelling this -- I was like bathing in it -- I don't want any of it," Carnahan said.

The beer truck that rolled over Friday had been carrying nearly 44,000 pounds of Bud Light Limes. With a river of beer pouring from the back of the truck, workers managed to split the truck in two while trying to right the vehicle.

Nick Hagen said he and his fellow crash site workers were forced to unload by hand those beer bottles that survived the crash.

"The smell is kind of overpowering when you get that much of it on the road," he offered the State Journal regarding the highway's impromptu beer bath.
