Subscribe | UPI Odd Newsletter Subscribe NEW YORK, July 18 (UPI) -- A 17-year-old boy who allegedly caused a New York blast in honor of the movie "Fight Club" found a real-life fight club in jail, corrections officials say. Corrections officials said Kyle Shaw, who stands accused of detonating a homemade bomb outside a New York coffee shop, was punched in the face by a fellow inmate who asked him if he took part in a Riker's Island jail fight club, the New York Post reported Saturday. Advertisement Correction Department spokesman Stephen Morello said Shaw, who showed off a black eye during his Manhattan Criminal Court visit Friday, did not file a report over the jail incident. Justice Charles Solomon allowed the teenage suspect to go home on $100,000 bail, but ordered Shaw to remain in his family's apartment for the weekend. The Post said the May 25 explosion for which Shaw has been blamed broke two windows of a New York Starbucks shop and damaged a bench. No one was hurt in the incident.
