NEW YORK, July 15 (UPI) -- A New York woman who witnessed a bank robbery provided a play-by-play report on the heist by posting to the social networking site Twitter.
Annemarie Dooling, a self-described "social media junkie," was standing in line at an HSBC branch when an unarmed man passed a note to the teller demanding money, the New York Daily News reported Wednesday.
Dooling, 26, posted "My bank was just held up—with me in it," to Twitter as the teller handed over an undisclosed amount of money to the thief who immediately fled.
Dooling provided updates on the situation for the next hour, Tweeting about the arrival of police and the questioning of witnesses.
The Daily News says Twitter users sent Dooling good wishes and "re-tweeted" her messages.
Dooling is a Web producer for Telepicture Productions in New York. She was posting from a smart phone with a broken trackball that prevented her from making calls.
