LONDON, July 13 (UPI) -- Actress Denise Van Outen and comedian Johnny Vegas were among the nearly 1,000 dancers who recreated the street dance scene from "Fame" on a London street.
Van Outen, Vegas, a group of professional dancers and members of the public used props, including a New York yellow cab and U.S. fire hydrants, while dancing on Worship Street to the theme from the movie-musical, The Daily Telegraph reported Monday.
The "Fame" dance was organized by cable network Turner Classic Movies as part of its "Capture Your Classic" promotion, which asks viewers to recreate scenes from their favorite flicks.
"It's one of my favorite films, it's a real classic and because the '80s are having a comeback; the outfits look great," Van Outen said. "I'm 35 and I can get the leg warmers out -- I can still do it."
Vegas sported a neon green vest and headband during the dance.
"I wouldn't call what I was doing dancing, it's a broad interpretation of rhythm," Vegas joked. "My style is a bit of pagan, a bit of spiritualism -- I allowed the music to possess me.
"Fame isn't one of my favorite musicals because I'm envious that I can't dance. I see it as a weeper because it's what I could have been. It's not very glamorous when you're at college doing pottery, you don't randomly break into song."
