MALTON, England, July 6 (UPI) -- A new rollercoaster in North Yorkshire, England, has been confirmed as the world's steepest, park officials say.

The "Mumbo Jumbo" coaster at the Flamingo Land Park, near Malton, England, was certified as such by the Guinness World of Records thanks to its 112-degree plunge that puts riders through forces similar to those experienced by jet pilots, The Daily Telegraph reported Monday.

The ride cost $6.5 million to build and lasts for 38 seconds, the newspaper said.

"This is a fantastic achievement for Flamingo Land," said Gordon Gibb, the park's chief executive. "We are extremely proud of our new ride. It's a world-beater, and it definitely puts us in the theme park premier league."
