Wis. agency logo resembles anarchy symbol

MADISON, Wis., July 3 (UPI) -- Wisconsin's Government Accountability Board has drawn criticism for a new logo that some say resembles the symbol for anarchy.

The logo, which was designed by Cricket Design Works of Madison, Wis., features an "A" inside a circle, similar to the traditional symbol for anarchy but with softer lines, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported Friday.

Kevin Kennedy, director of the Government Accountability Board, said a board employee pointed out the similarity while reviewing drafts of the design, but Kennedy said he believes "there are significant differences" between the logo and the anarchy symbol.

However, Kennedy said linking the board's work to anarchy is not a far-fetched connection.

"Our role is to bring accountability to what could otherwise be anarchy," he said.
