Subscribe | UPI Odd Newsletter Subscribe PALATKA, Fla., June 16 (UPI) -- Police in Florida said an absent-minded burglar left an important piece of evidence at the scene of his alleged crime -- his wallet. Palatka police said employees of the Putnam County school bus garage said the facility was burglarized at some point between Friday night and Monday morning, The (Jacksonville) Florida Times-Union reported Tuesday. Advertisement The workers told police the burglar took a safe, two computers, computer screens and multiple hand tools, but he also left two things behind: a knife and a wallet. Police said they followed the ID inside the wallet to Daniel Gibbs, 35, who was found to be in possession of the stolen safe at his home. Investigators said Gibbs also had a generator and hand tools that were reported stolen from a previous crime. Gibbs, who was on probation for earlier burglary and theft convictions, was charged with two counts each of burglary, grand theft and criminal mischief as well as charges of cocaine possession and probation violation.
