Alaska moose Milwaukee bound

MILWAUKEE, June 12 (UPI) -- Two orphaned moose are being prepared to move south from Alaska to the Milwaukee County Zoo sometime in the near future.

No date has been set, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported. The moose, both young females, are now in the Alaska Zoo in Anchorage.

One had a brief brush with fame a few months ago when she took refuge in a yard in Anchorage while being chased by dogs.

Jennifer Diliberti said the moose will need health examinations and permits have to be obtained for the move.

"Both of the girls are doing well, and they're being hand-reared," Diliberti said.

The moose, who have not been named, will join other fauna in the North American exhibit in Milwaukee.
