FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., June 2 (UPI) -- Finalists for a Florida doctor's contest offering free cosmetic procedures have gathered in Fort Lauderdale to hear the names of the winners, the doctor says.
Dr. Jason Shapiro, of Fort Lauderdale practice Tribeca Medaesthetics, said the "Beauty and the Botox" contest, which asked participants to write 300-word essays about why they deserve free Botox injections, cellulite reductions or laser hair removals, was inspired by customers who told him they were worried about getting the procedures because they were hunting for jobs, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported Tuesday.
Shapiro said he received more than 1,200 essays that he whittled down to 50 finalists. The winner will be announced during a ceremony at the Sheraton near the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.
