Mom finds 'Jesus' on jar lid

RHONDDA, Wales, May 28 (UPI) -- A Welsh mother said she saw the face of Jesus in the lid of a Marmite jar while she was preparing breakfast for her 4-year-old.

Claire Allen, 36, of Rhondda, Wales, said she pried the lid from the food spread jar and set it down on the table while serving breakfast to her young child and noticed a curious shape on the lid, The Daily Mail reported Thursday.

"I just looked at it and immediately thought, that's Jesus Christ," Allen said. "It wasn't a new jar, but I'd never noticed that before."

Allen said she immediately called for her husband, Gareth, and sons Tomas, 11 and Jamie, 14.

"Straight away Jamie said 'that looks like God,' and my other boys even said they could see a face," she said.

Allen, who described herself as "not particularly religious," said she finds the image comforting.

"People might think I'm nuts, but I like to think it's Jesus looking out for us," she said. "We've had a tough couple of months; my mum's been really ill and it's comforting to think that if he is there, he's watching over us."

"I often see Jesus' face in a lot of things I do. And there are a few times I can think of when I've seen the face of Jesus in a window," Allen said. "But he's never appeared in my food before."
