School reprinting diplomas with city typo

LOUISVILLE, Colo., May 27 (UPI) -- A Colorado high school said it is reprinting the 395 diplomas handed out this year due to an error that listed the wrong city on the documents.

Boulder Valley School District spokesman Briggs Gamblin said the diplomas handed out Friday by Monarch High School mistakenly list the school's address as within Lafayette instead of Louisville, the Boulder Daily Camera reported Wednesday.

Gamblin said graduates will receive their corrected diplomas in the mail.

The spokesman said the error was first brought to the district's attention by a parent shortly after the graduation ceremony Friday. He said the school notified families and vowed to correct the error. He said the printing company is absorbing the cost of the replacement documents.

"Everyone is very sorry, but it was human error and the printer will make it good and all seniors will receive a diploma with the correct city," Gamblin said. "There are some red faces to go with the black and gold."
