MERIDEN, Conn., May 27 (UPI) -- A Connecticut Police Academy adjunct instructor is accused of taking a co-worker's sarcastic invitation to "bite me" literally, an arrest warrant states.

Francis Woodruff, who also serves as a training coordinator at the Meriden Police Department, was arraigned Tuesday on charges of disorderly conduct and second-degree reckless endangerment at Superior Court in Meriden, Conn., the Hartford Courant reported Wednesday.

Woodruff allegedly bit license and applications analyst Rochelle Wyler on the arm after his teasing about her copy-making duties led her to say: "Whatever Woody, bite me," the arrest warrant states. Wyler reported the incident to authorities four days after it occurred. The alleged bite left teeth marks and bruising on Wyler's arm, the warrant said.

Woodruff was released on a promise to appear. He has been placed on leave from his job at the Meriden Police Department and is not allowed to return to the police academy.
