MALIA, Greece, May 25 (UPI) -- A group of 17 British men on the Greek island of Crete have been cleared of charges related to the naughty nun costumes they wore in public.

The tourists were charged with "scandal and misrepresentation of a costume or uniform" for wearing nun costumes with thongs and garter belts in the town of Malia, The Sun reported Monday.

"They were dressed like nuns, carrying crosses, but wearing thongs under their skirts and showing people their bottoms and the rest," a police source said.

However, the men were declared innocent and set free after no witnesses showed up to testify against them at a court in the town of Iraklio.
