NEW YORK, May 17 (UPI) -- A 30-year-old man accused of robbing a U.S. marshal in New York was arrested by police after dodging a bullet fired at him, law enforcement sources say.

The unidentified sources said Christian Cepeda was arrested in a New York park after allegedly stealing a laptop computer from a U.S. marshal sitting in a Jeep in a parking lot Saturday, the New York Post reported Sunday.

The source said the marshal fired a single shot but missed the fleeing suspect. The marshal, who is based in Puerto Rico, will not face charges for the public discharge of his weapon.

The sources told the Post Cepeda was apprehended by police officers nearby and taken in for questioning.

That was when the suspect's cell phone rang and a caller informed investigators the phone allegedly also was stolen property, the sources told the Post.
