CROOKED RIVER RANCH, Ore., May 1 (UPI) -- Police said an Oregon man accused of impersonating a doctor carried out minor surgical procedures on at least three patients.
Scott Hanson, 22, of Crooked River Ranch, was charged Tuesday with one count of second-degree assault, two counts of identity theft and recklessly endangering another person, and a count of manufacturing or delivering a controlled substance, the Bend (Ore.) Bulletin reported Friday.
Redmond Police Capt. Brian McNaughton said Hanson, who has no medical training, convinced a friend that he was a doctor affiliated with Mountain View Hospital in Madras, Ore., and the friend then sent referrals to Hanson.
McNaughton said Hanson, who police believe was impersonating a doctor for about eight months, visited the homes of three people while posing as a medical practitioner and performed at least six procedures on the victims.
"He administered some drugs," McNaughton said. "(The treatment) was a mixture of anything dealing with infections or injury all the way to minor surgeries. I'm talking more like removing some skin."
