NEW YORK, April 22 (UPI) -- Police said a thief took a laptop computer and jewelry from a man's New York home, but the suspect left behind a pair of socks.

Investigators said apartment resident Matthew Staley, who has portrayed minor characters on TV shows including "The Sopranos" and "My Own Worst Enemy," discovered the socks Monday after finding his property missing and his bed ransacked, the New York Post reported Wednesday.

Police said the break-in occurred between 11:30 a.m. and 4:20 p.m. with no signs of forced entry.
