Artists dream of Google 'Street View'

TORONTO, April 10 (UPI) -- Artists and bicycle advocates in Toronto are preparing to become part of Google's "Street View" if they spot one of the company's cars.

The Google cars use cameras mounted on their roofs to get footage for the views, a feature of Google maps. Google's cars are currently in 11 Canadian cities.

Ryan Ringer of Methinks Presents, a street performer group, told the Toronto Star he is creating heads with video cameras and shirts that say "We're watching you." His dream is a swarm of video heads around a Google car.

"We want to say to Google and the rest of the world that we're aware of the somewhat creepy nature of this," Ringer said.

Yvonne Bambrick of the Toronto Cycling Union wants to advertise.

"We'd like to get cyclists out en masse and surround the car, to let people know that Toronto rides bikes," she says. "It's about messaging. Street View is a great communications tool if you plan for it."

Then there's Thea Munster, organizer of Toronto's Halloween "zombie walk." While she knows the car would probably be long gone before her zombies get there, she said she would love to have them attack a Google car.
