Missing dog found across country

MIRAMAR, Fla., April 9 (UPI) -- A Florida woman said her Jack Russell terrier, which disappeared from her home three years ago, was found more than 1,000 miles away in Louisiana.

Barbara Apostolo said her dog, ToBoi, escaped from her Miramar, Fla., home three years ago and she had no clue as to the dog's fate until two weeks ago when she was contacted by a Louisiana animal shelter, WPLG-TV, Miami, reported Thursday.

Apostolo said shelter employees found her contact information on the dog's microchip. She said she doesn't know how the dog made the trek across the country.

ToBoi arrived Wednesday at Florida's Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and was reunited with her owner.

"She reminds me of three years ago, how things were when I first got her there," Apostolo said.
