LANDSHUT, Germany, April 3 (UPI) -- Authorities in Germany said they have discovered the skeleton of a man who shot himself while atop a tree 29 years ago.

Police in Landshut, Germany, said the remains of the 69-year-old man, who was reported missing during the summer of 1980, were found 36 feet up in a tree next to a gun, The Daily Telegraph reported Friday.

A police spokesman said the skeleton had been concealed for nearly three decades by thick branches and leaves.
