Police: Foiled robbery suspect cried

TRENTON, N.J., April 2 (UPI) -- Police in New Jersey said an attempted liquor store robber sat down and cried when foiled by a locked door.

Investigators said Edwin Calix, 19, was charged with robbery after he allegedly tried to rob Sykes Liquor Store in Trenton and was foiled Monday when clerk Jeff Wadkins, 76, locked the suspect inside the store, The (Newark, N.J.) Star-Ledger reported Thursday.

Police said Calix showed a handgun to the clerk and demanded to be released but Wadkins did not believe the gun was real and refused to unlock the door. Officers said they arrived to find the suspect sitting on the floor and crying.
