EDSVARA, Sweden, April 1 (UPI) -- Fast-food giant McDonald's is demanding that a Swedish strip club get rid of a sign that the hamburger chain claims comes too close to its own golden arches.
McDonald's spokesman Claes Eliasson said the sign for McDragan's Drive In strip club in Edsvara, Sweden, is a large red "M" with nipples that resembles the famous McDonald's golden arch logo, The Local reported Wednesday.
"We're going to send him a letter. In our view this is clearly a breach of our trademark," McDonald's spokesman Claes Eliasson said of the strip bar's owner, Dragan Bratic.
Bratic denied that the sign was meant to in any way resemble the McDonald's trademark.
"The sign has nothing to do with McDonald's. It is two breasts with nipples. Anyone can see that," he said.
The club owner said the "Mc" in front of his club's name is short for "motorcycle."
"I'm not Irish, I'm a Yugoslav. And I don't sell hamburgers, I sell live striptease," he said.
However, Eliasson said McDonald's will seek legal action if the sign does not come down.
