MALMO, Sweden, March 9 (UPI) -- Swedish police said a man was arrested for public drunkenness after he was spotted wandering the city of Malmo with a boa constrictor around his neck.
Police said numerous people were frightened by the 44-year-old man's massive reptile and called the authorities, The Local reported Monday.
"The snake was at least two meters (6.5 feet) long and really thick," witness Sara Johannesson said.
Micke Persson, a representative of the Skane police department, said the snake was identified as a boa constrictor and taken to the Malmo Reptile Center to await its owner's release from jail.
