LINCOLN, England, March 6 (UPI) -- An 11-year-old British boy with a head for business made thousands of pounds when his collection of McDonald's toys was sold at auction.
Luke Underwood's parents encouraged the sale because his collection was taking over their home in South Clifton near Nottingham, The Daily Mail reported.
"I didn't really want to sell it but now I'm planning on saving the money so I can buy something else like this and make some more money," Luke said. "I want to be a businessman when I'm older. I like going to car boot sales with my dad and buying things then selling them for more."
Luke had gathered 7,000 items, including the only known set of 101 Dalmatians in their original bags. They sold in 300 lots Wednesday night at Unique Auctions in Lincoln, bringing in a total of 8,130 pounds ($11,530).
He acquired the collection four years ago, convincing his father to put up 250 pounds for an assemblage of McDonald's toys, posters and other memorabilia dating from 1990 to 1999.
