KALAMAZOO, Mich., Feb. 25 (UPI) -- Police said three teenagers were arrested in Birmingham, Ala., less than a day after they allegedly stole a safe full of antique money in Texas Township, Mich.

Investigators with the Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Office in Michigan said an 18-year-old man and two 15-year-old boys allegedly took the safe, which belonged to the parents of one of the 15-year-olds, Thursday and left town in a 1997 Plymouth Voyager van they allegedly stole from a neighbor's house, the Kalamazoo Gazette reported Wednesday.

Birmingham police said they were called to a Service First Bank location after a man attempted to obtain change for a $1,000 bill. The man was gone when officers arrived, but police pulled over a van matching the description given by bank employees about five hours later and the three suspects, who were also described by bank workers, were arrested.

Capt. Mike Bowen with the Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Office said all three teenagers were charged with receiving stolen property. He said the two 15-year-olds were brought back to Michigan by their parents while the 18-year-old is in Birmingham awaiting extradition.
