Man learns casino losses not deductible

PORTLAND, Ore., Feb. 9 (UPI) -- Police in Portland, Ore., said a suspicious package that was destroyed by a local bomb squad turned out to be a school science project.
Investigators said the box, which featured a wire and screws sticking out of it, was found Saturday at the Mittleman Jewish Community Center with a note reading: "Do not touch," KPTV, Portland, reported Monday.
The bomb squad blew up the box and police said they later learned it was a school science project that had been left at the center.
Portland Police Detective Mary Wheat said officers "can't be too careful," noting that two police officers were killed by a bomb at a Woodburn, Ore., bank two months ago.
