HIGHLAND PARK, Ill., Jan. 28 (UPI) -- A suburban Chicago man said his family received 445 credit card applications in a single year, including 35 applications for his young children.

Gary Silbar of Highland Park said he saved all of the credit card applications that arrived at the home he shares with his wife, Karen, and their two sons between November 2007 and October 2008, yielding a collection of 445 pieces of junk mail, the Chicago Tribune reported Wednesday.

He said he decided to try the year-long collection after he received seven credit card applications in a single day.

"I had no idea it would be this amount," Silbar said.

Silbar said 20 of the applications were addressed to his son Max, 8, while his older son Jake, 11, received 15.

"Jake's upset," Silbar said. "Why is Max getting more credit card applications than him?"
