DENVER, Jan. 28 (UPI) -- Workers at Colorado's Denver Public Library said a woman gave birth to a baby girl on the first floor of the building.
Library spokeswoman Celeste Jackson said the woman came into the library Tuesday morning and told employees that she had gone into labor while riding public transportation, The Rocky Mountain News reported Wednesday.
"We had a lady come in about 9 this morning, saying she'd been riding RTD and was in labor," Jackson said Tuesday.
She said library staffers and security guards assisted the woman until Denver paramedics arrived and delivered the baby girl near the building's east entrance.
"She was pretty far along. She delivered right there," Jackson said.
Jackson said the birth was a first for the library.
"It's never happened before," she said.
