MINNEAPOLIS, Jan. 22 (UPI) -- Here's a gift idea for the person who has everything: a piece of the Minneapolis skyway system.
A Minneapolis architecture firm posted the skyway section for $79,500 on craigslist.com, billing it as a "once in a lifetime, one of a kind, classic building."
The 20-foot-wide, 14-foot-tall skyway, designed by Minneapolis architect Ed Baker, was built in the 1970s to connect two buildings in downtown Minneapolis. It was removed when a light rail transit line was built.
"You've got to see it to believe it," the ad reads. "Just so you know, to build a new skyway costs upwards of $1,000,000. To build the steel structure in this skyway alone has been estimated at $250,000-plus."
The sellers even offer suggestions for its use, such as a cabin. Or a wine bar, gallery, or an ice-fishing house -- although the ad does warn it "might be a bit heavy, gotta watch that ice."
The sale is cash-only and must be paid in full before a buyer can move it from its current location near the University of Minnesota Minneapolis campus.
One last thing, the skyway is sold "as is."
