New York City pizza restaurant owner Tibi Vasilescu got the vanity plates last spring when President Barack Obama was competing in the Iowa caucuses. But he told Tuesday's New York Times he feel he has made his point with the attention-getting plates fastened to his attention-getting orange Volkswagen GTI. Advertisement "It was like seeing people after the election wearing those big Obama pins," he said. "And besides, I was afraid somebody would steal it. There was so much attention, so many people photographing the car -- all positive, but still, I was worried." Vasilescu's new vanity plates read "I GTI," obtained at the request of his 18-year-old son who "wanted something cute" this time, the newspaper said.
