MANHASSET, N.Y., Jan. 18 (UPI) -- New York police are investigating claims by a man who reported thieves stole a Mercedes Benz and a Porsche from him on the same night, records show.

Detectives in Nassau County said the man, whose name wasn't released, told them thieves first stole his Mercedes Saturday and found the keys to his Porsche inside. They apparently used the car's global positioning system device to discover where he lived. Once they arrived at his home, the perpetrators used the keys to take the second car, which was parked in his driveway, Newsday reported Sunday.

The police report filed in the incident quoted the car owner as saying the keys to his Mercedes were stolen from the valet parking booth of a Manhasset, N.Y., restaurant while he was inside eating dinner, Newsday said.
