CHICAGO, Jan. 17 (UPI) -- A Chicago woman attributes her matrimonial bliss to the soon-to-end U.S. TV series "ER."

Amy Hughes, 44, said because of the NBC medical drama, she met her husband and now enjoys a life complete with three children, whose ages range from 2 and 6, the Chicago Sun-Times reported Friday.

"I owe the second half of my life to 'ER,'" Hughes said. "There's no other way of putting it."

Hughes said she met her husband William on an America Online "ER" fan club and soon relocated to Chicago to begin her new life.

Hughes told the Sun-Times the fan club that brought her and her husband together has lost much of its popularity as "ER" prepares to go off the air following its ongoing 15th season.

"The fan club may have faded into the mists of the Internet," she said, "but we're still in contact with many of the people we met in 1994. Now the show's ending will definitely be bittersweet for us."
