Police find meth lab in funeral home

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark., Jan. 9 (UPI) -- An Arkansas funeral home employee has been arrested for allegedly building a meth lab in the facility's basement, authorities said.

Walnut Ridge police said an officer entered the Higginbotham Funeral Home, which is next door to the sheriff's department, through an open door Dec. 3 after noticing lights on in the basement, KAIT-TV, Jonesboro, Ark., reported Friday.

The officer discovered a methamphetamine lab that was just hours from operation and Robert Lee Lewis, 43, was arrested soon after when he returned to the funeral home.

Lewis was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to manufacture, possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to use, manufacture of methamphetamine and possession of pseudoephederine with intent to manufacture. He was released on $2,500 bond and is due back in court Jan. 21.
