MANSFIELD, Texas, Dec. 22 (UPI) -- Police arrested a 66-year-old Texas school bus driver who allegedly threatened sixth-graders with a knife to coerce a cookie-eating confession, officials said.

Terry Morawski, a Mansfield school district spokesman, said William Allen, 66, was arrested Friday and district police confiscated a pocket knife bearing a 2-inch blade from the driver, the Fort Worth (Texas) Star-Telegram reported Monday.

"I don't like the fact it's taken two days before he is arrested, but at least my daughter has witnessed some measure of justice," said Dianna Davis, whose daughter was one of the three children Allen allegedly pulled from the bus and threatened. "At least now, we know the school district's police is taking the matter seriously."

Two of the three alleged victims told their parents Allen ordered them to exit the bus Wednesday and threatened to cut their wrists unless they admitted to eating Oreo cookies on the bus and leaving crumbs behind on the seat. The parents of the two students said district officials told them the incident was comparable to a "grandfather joking about cutting your ears off if you don't knock it off."

Allen has been placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of investigations by district officials and the police.
